RDK Kombo Records was founded in Spring of 2003 by Robert Kombo in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Robert Kombo who is widely known as Robčre Acare was going to North Carolina State University at that time he met a fellow Congolese singer Joe Baule. They quickly became close friends as both had similar interests and views in many things. Within a few months, Robert agreed to sign Joe to his new label. They worked very closely for the next two years developing a new music style they would later name soukpop. Being both influenced by the same types of music back in the Congo and in the US, it made it a lot easier when developing soukpop music. Soukpop derives its name from soukous, Congolese most popular music genre, and the American popular music. It is the fusion of these two powerful music genres sprinkled with Latin and African twists.
In September 2005, RDK Kombo Records released Joe's debut EP album "God's Song. This is the Song of God". The recording of this album was done with the help of some talented musicians like Jeremy Ferrell, guitarist, Youyou Kombo, drummer, Christopher also known as Tuffer, bassist, Eden Misha, Vocalist, Q, percussionist, Swann, keyboardist and rapper, and Robert K (Robčre Acare), vocalist and producer of the album. The recording of Joe's full-length album that was supposed to take place in January 2006 as planned never happened due to Joe's health issues that eventually cost him his life in July 2007. The young label struggled to stay alive during that period as it used up all its resources and efforts taking care of Joe. In its efforts to find a new artist in the capacity as Joe's, the label couldn't find anyone better than Robčre Acare to give it a boost so desperately needed. Robčre Acare took a new approach in dealing with the internal issues of the label. He self-produced his debut EP album that the label released in January 2008. He also self-produced his entire album that will be released on September 27th, 2008. Robčre Acare felt the need to take things under his own control if he ever wanted to attract great artists to the label. " I am very pleased the way things stand now and very satisfied about the album we're about to drop" he insists.

RDK Kombo Records and producer Robčre Acare laid the foundations and set up the structures for soukpop music so that other artists can easily build on them. RDK Kombo Records only produces soukpop music. Artists willing to join our label should familiarize themselves with our music style first to facilitate the transition from whatever music styles they're accustomed to. It's the label's vision to establish soukpop as a genre in the same rank as Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock, Pop, R & B, and so on. It's also our desire to bring and continue to bring to the world and our fans great music and entertainments through our various talented artists.
